“Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king declared to Daniel, May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!”
In season and out of season. In sickness and in health. When you’re up against it. When life doesn’t make sense. When enemies surround, and strongholds are knocked down. When friends forsake and you’re left alone. When you’re persecuted, hungry, naked, weak. When God seems inattentive, uncooperative, and late…..continually serve Him. Wait on Him. He will deliver you. His Word says so.
Maybe you won’t leave the lion’s den untouched, without scar or wound, like Daniel. But, moment by moment, God will breath grace on you, and you will be able to put one foot in front of the other. Sometimes we need to wait, but its in these times we learn how to believe, we learn courage.
One unrelated rant and plea to the Church: Stop making these texts into children’s stories! Please. There’s too much truth here to settle for a fairytale.
