Pastor shared this story on Sunday morning:
‘Billy Graham and his wife were driving on the highway one afternoon, and they passed a sign that read, “End of Construction. Thank you for your patience.” Mrs. Graham leaned over and said, ‘Billy, did you see that sign we just passed? That’s what I want etched on my tombstone when I die.’
The mature believer understands that his/her life is one big construction site. If a crack in the road is fixed over here, a pipe just burst over there. Their life is a race. They never arrive, yet they are never content to merely coast along. They are never satisfied with their current state of holiness, being keenly aware of how short they fall before the glory and purity of God. And so, they volunteer all the more willingly for the Spirit’s sanctifying construction.
Here’s to lives under construction!
